CFO, Standard Bank Africa
Greg joined the Standard Bank Group in 2011 and has worked mainly in the Rest of Africa geography. He currently holds the role of Chief Financial Officer for Standard Bank Africa, responsible for the businesses in Africa outside South Africa with assets totalling $20bn and profit of $750m, supported by a finance team of 400 across 19 countries.
Greg joined the Standard Bank Group from Barclays PLC in London where he held a number of senior finance roles since joining in 2005, including FD for Barclays Africa Corporate Bank.
Greg has held leadership roles across all areas of finance including M&A and Treasury which have enabled him to be a key business partner at the Standard Bank Group.
Greg graduated from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom with a BA (Hons) degree in Economic and Social History. He subsequently became a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales being made a Fellow of the Institute in 2014. Greg is married with one son and is a keen cyclist in his spare time.

Greg is an internationally experienced Executive with proven track record of change and delivery across financial services. He comes with specific expertise in Africa and emerging markets with over 15 years of experience at senior leadership level. Specialisms in controlled fast paced growth, managing risk alongside driving growth. He is a proven leader in selecting, retaining and developing top talent.
Greg was awarded the Moving into Africa CFO of the Year 2015 and selected for the Institute of International Finance (IIF) Future Leaders Class of 2016 representing financial service organisations across the world.
Combined with the foregoing, his specialities in Strategy development, business performance management, financial control and reporting, corporate finance, transaction support, risk management, business re-engineering, programme management will provide Greg with the profile and quality of expertise required to judge how teams respond to the strategic challenges our case company: the MCOM Mobile Telecommunications giant faces in Africa and some of its key markets in the Middle East and Asia.
